GM of Analytics and Measurement Recognized for Innovation, Role in Development of Solutions for Digital Audio Measurement
Triton Digital (www.tritondigital.com), a market leader enabling media companies to manage, measure and monetize their content digitally, today announced that Rob Favre, Chief Compliance Officer and GM of its Analytics & Measurement division, has been presented with a Great Mind Award in the Innovation Category from the Advertising Research Foundation (ARF). Favre and the entire Webcast Metrics team have played important leadership roles in the development, design and implementation of modern digital audio measurement.
“We take our responsibility to evaluate the needs of digital publishers, advertisers and agencies very seriously and we continue investing heavily to establish a standard of measurement that is useful for all parties. Rob has played an important role in all of this.”
In the early days of digital audio, the industry relied solely on traditional broadcast radio terms and methods for measuring the impact of the richer advertising options – such as pre-roll or gateway ads, synchronized banners and in-stream audio – enabled by streaming media. The Webcast Metrics team, led by Favre, faced the challenge of helping clients properly represent their digital inventory through intuitive metrics that publishers, advertisers and agencies can universally utilize in the planning, selling, buying and delivery of digital audio campaigns. Favre and Triton Digital conducted research that led to the creation of the following digital audio metrics:
- Average Active Sessions – measuring the average number of listeners during a specified daypart as a general gauge of a program’s reach.
- Sessions Started – measuring the number of times a digital audio listener initiates a listening session, signifying the number of pre-roll/gateway ads consumed.
- Average Time Spent Listening – measuring the duration of a listener’s consumption, representing the average level of engagement.
These metrics formed the foundation for Triton Digital’s Webcast Metrics platform, which is now the standard in digital audio measurement across the U.S. and Canada. Webcast Metrics is also the only digital audio measurement solution that has been accredited by the Media Rating Council (MRC).
“Webcast Metrics measures thousands of radio streams in real-time for some of the most well-known streaming broadcasters in the world,” said Mike Agovino, COO of Triton Digital. “We take our responsibility to evaluate the needs of digital publishers, advertisers and agencies very seriously and we continue investing heavily to establish a standard of measurement that is useful for all parties. Rob has played an important role in all of this.”
“It’s an honor to be recognized for our team’s great work by such a prestigious group in the advertising community,” said Favre. “We have set a high standard for our Webcast Metrics solution, and I hope that this award will further fuel our determination to deliver the best measurement services possible for the digital audio industry.”
Favre is being presented with the award at the Great Mind Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, March 28th during the ARF Annual Convention in New York.
