Quick, what are most car radios missing? Answer: a mount to hold the portable device you are connecting to the radio.
New radios from Dual Electronics introduced at KnowledgeFest offer such an adjustable mount, without electronics, just metal and plastic to hold your Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPod, iPhone, etc.
Robb Groner, VP product development said, “As consumers increasingly use their smartphones for navigation and music streaming, device integration into the head unit is not only a matter of convenience, but also safety.”
Three Dual CD receivers–XDMA5280, XDMA6510 and XDMA6540–offer the mount.
The top-line XDMA6540 also works with Sirius XM Radio’s (NASDAQ:SIRI) new SXV100 tuner that creates a TiVO-like buffer of songs from the Satellite Radio feed. It also features built-in stereo Bluetooth and is HD Radio-ready at $199.
Other features include front-panel USB, SD card slot and direct USB control from the radio of an iPhone or iPod. The deck is the first Dual-brand car radio to include a Satellite Radio option.
The XDMA5280 and XDMA6510 basic CD receivers also sport front panel USB with control over an iPhone or iPod at $129 -$139.
