Pandora (P) is the leader in Internet radio while Sirius XM Radio (SIRI) is the king of satellite radio. While many people consider Pandora and Sirius to be direct competitors, these companies have very different business models and plenty of room for growth in their core businesses.
Apple May Become Sirius Radio’s Next Biggest Threat
News of a recent development in the strategy of Apple Inc. (AAPL) could spell bad news for the company’s competitor in digital music, Sirius XM Radio (SIRI). Pandora, the online radio sensation is probably experiencing late night boardroom meetings as well. Apple, a lead producer in the computer and consumer electronics industries led by CEO Steve Jobs, have been involved in negotiations with several record companies with the intent of improving iTunes customers’ access to music on multiple devices.
